  1. Purpose of this Privacy Notice

    This Privacy Notice outlines what personal information the Jamaica Council for Persons with
    Disabilities (JCPD) collects, how we process and use that information, and how it is stored and
    shared. It is applicable to all individuals who use the services of the JCPD. Please read carefully and
    understand how we handle your information.

  2. Who We Are

    The JCPD was established under the Disabilities Act and currently operates as a statutory body. We
    promote and ensure the rights of persons with disabilities in Jamaica. At the JCPD, we value the
    privacy of our users and we are committed to ensuring the protection of your data.

  3. Information We Collect

    We may collect, use and store both personal and sensitive types of information which are listed below
    but not limited to:

    1. Personal Information: We may collect information for identity, contact and employment
      details and governmental assistance programme benefits.
    2. Sensitive Information: We may collect sensitive data necessary for providing our services
      such as health records or medical reports for a physical and/or medical health conditions
      as well as your photographs.
    3. Financial Information: We may collect information such as bank account details.
    4. Communication Data: We may store information related to your interactions with us,
      including emails, phone calls, and other communication.
  4. How We Collect and Use Your Information:

    Information is provided to the JCPD through direct interaction with our clients. This information is
    obtained by filling out the required forms and/or by phone/email correspondence as well as submission
    of any supporting documentation.

    Your information may be used for the following purposes:

    1. Providing Services: We use your information to deliver and manage our services.
    2. Communication: We may use your data to communicate with you regarding your
      registration process, requested assistance for medical purposes or to provide updates about
      our services.
    3. Legal Obligations: We process your data to comply with legal and regulatory
      requirements. Such personal data collected may be used to register clients and process
      complaints as per our legal obligation under the Disabilities Act.
    4. Marketing: With your consent, we may use your information to send you promotional
      materials and information about our products, services and events.
    5. Research: With your explicit written consent, we may use your information to conduct
      research (internally and externally) in alignment with the objectives of the JCPD and
      necessary for the enhancement of the Disabilities sector.
  5. Data Sharing:

    We may share your data with trusted organizations such as third parties and suppliers that are also data
    processors to fulfill our contractual obligations to provide our services to you.

    We may disclose information to regulatory authorities, law enforcement, for legal proceedings and for
    any other provisions under the applicable laws.

    We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

    We practise the appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data from
    unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Your data is confidential and restricted to
    authorized personnel who require it to perform their job duties.

    Your personal information shall only be kept for as long as is necessary by law and for the purpose it
    was collected.

  8. Rights as our Data Subjects:

    You have the right to be informed, to access, update or delete your personal information by submitting
    a written request.

    You can withdraw your consent for the processing of your data, where applicable.

    The JCPD reserves the right to amend or change the terms of this Privacy Notice at any time and also
    in response to comply with applicable privacy and data protection laws. Notice of any such change
    along with the updated policy will be posted on our website and made available in office.

    We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.
    The most recent version will be available on our website and in office.
